Baristas face a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment, where customer interactions and accurate order entry are essential. To help baristas gain confidence in managing real-time orders, I developed CoffeeTrainer, a POS job simulator. CoffeeTrainer allows new baristas to practice taking orders, correctly inputting them, and handling human error in a simulated environment. This tool offers a hands-on approach to mastering the skills required for success behind the counter.

In a busy coffee shop, order accuracy and efficiency are critical. Baristas must quickly interpret and input orders while often needing to ask clarifying questions to ensure accuracy. Mistakes such as entering the wrong drink temperature or forgetting add-ons can lead to dissatisfied customers and waste. Training new baristas on the nuances of order entry is challenging in a real-world setting, where high volumes and complex orders can overwhelm them. CoffeeTrainer aims to bridge this gap by providing a safe, controlled environment for practice.
